Fire at East Herringthorpe started in electrical unit

A FIRE at an East Herringthorpe property started in the fuse board, South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said.

Three crews from Rotherham and Dearne stations attended Hounsfield Road at 2.30pm yesterday afternoon.

An SYFR spokesperson said: “The fire is believed to have started accidentally at the consumer unit. The crews left the scene at 3.15pm.”

On Saturday, a van was deliberately set alight at 6.30pm on Townend Avenue in Aston, and there was an accidental car fire at 10.45pm on Old Colliery Way, Swallownest.

There was also an accidental blaze involving a shed at 11.30am at The Paddock in Darfield.
