Waverley grass fire that could be seen for miles now out after late night operation
A large fire that could be seen for miles is now extinguished
A large grass fire that could be seen for miles around has now been extinguished, it has been confirmed.

The fire broke out on land near the Waverley development in Rotherham and five engines were sent to battle it.
Dramatic photos and videos captured the scale of the fire and the speed at which it developed, which could be seen as far away as Kimberworth.
In a statement this morning (Saturday, August 1), South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said crews had left the scene at around 10.30pm on Friday evening.
The fire service had said on Friday (July 31) evening: “We are getting lots of repeat 999 calls for a grass fire in Waverley, Rotherham.
“Please be assured we know about the incident and we have five fire engines in attendance.”
Earlier in the same evening crews were deployed to a woodland fire in Beighton, which caused plumes of black smoke across parts of Sheffield and Rotherham.
They were also deployed to a grass fire on Penrith Road, Shirecliffe, Sheffield, at a similar time.
South Yorkshire has had little rainfall and warm temperatures for weeks, leaving the ground tinder dry.
In a warning issued earlier in the week, the fire service said: “Please continue to help prevent wildfires this summer.
“With the current warm, dry weather increasing the risk of fires, we're asking everyone to continue to avoid having garden fires and using disposable barbecues.
“A small spark can quickly spread through dry grass, hedges and woodland, putting lives, wildlife and property at risk.
“Dispose of rubbish responsibly.
“Do not use barbecues in parks or moorlands. Do not have garden fires.
“Call 999 if you spot a wildfire.
“Let's all do our bit to keep South Yorkshire safe.”
