Deal signals new hope for motorhome workers

HOPES have been raised that jobs may be saved at a Rotherham motorhome manufacturer which went into administration.

Bentley Motorhomes has been acquired by Wigan-based caravan manufacturer Vanmaster which hopes to restart production at Bentley’s factory on the Swinton Meadows Industrial Estate.

Bentley, which produced high-quality motorhomes, appointed Begbies Traynor as administrators last month.

Vanmaster says its directors are working with suppliers and other interested parties to restart production at Bentley’s and an announcement is expected within the next two weeks.

Lesley Thompson, a director at Vanmaster, said: “This is a unique opportunity for two award-winning companies involved in the manufacture of high quality caravans and motorhomes to work together to continue to innovate and deliver positive customer experiences.”

The management team was working hard to ensure that warranties relating to the current owners of Bentley Motorhomes were supported.

A spokeswoman for the administrators said: “All the tangible assets of Bentley Motorhomes Limited have now passed to Vanmaster Limited, including the Bentley name, Motorhome design and production equipment.”
