Arsonists strike three times over weekend

FIRE crews spent over an hour and a half tackling deliberate blazes over the weekend and into the early hours of Monday. 

A car was deliberately set on fire at 10.45pm on Lady Oak Road, East Herringthorpe on Saturday.

Firefighters from Rotherham attended and were there until 11.15pm.

On Sunday, firefighters from Edlington station attended a deliberate rubbish fire in a layby on Sheffield Road, Conisbrough at 7.30pm.

They left the scene at 7.47pm.

A bin was later deliberately set alight in Thurcroft.

Crews tackled the blaze at 8.30pm on New Orchard Lane, leaving after 20 minutes. 

Rotherham firefighters were also called out to a deliberate fire in Rotherham town centre in the early hours of Monday morning.

The crew spent half an hour tackling the blaze involving a fence and bushes on Howard Street at 4.30am.
