CLLR MICHAEL BENNETT-SYLVESTER: Michael has been preparing for a number of meetings, including the Improving Lives Select Commission, which has a number of subjects for review, including the maintained schools long term maintenance plan, and the draft intrafamilial child sexual abuse strategy. Michael tabled questions for the next full council meeting, one regarding the news of the £100 government energy payment, asking what lessons have been learned from the previous government payment scheme which saw residents without bank accounts resorting to using pawn brokers to cash council tax rebate cheques. A second question related to the fact that community skips are becoming unaffordable for local ward budgets to fund, therefore is any extra help being considered by the council to help housing officers support local tenants. In addition to attending meetings, Michael has been holding his advice surgeries, including those in the offices at East Herringthorpe Cemetery and at Thrybergh Parish Hall, as well as supporting the Poppy Appeal by volunteering on the RBL poppy stand at Lidl in Dalton.

REMEMBRANCE: Dalton Parish Council will hold a Service of Remembrance on Sunday November 8 at the Parish Hall 3pm; Thrybergh Parish Council will hold a Remembrance service on Sunday November 8 10am at the Parish Hall; a Service of Remembrance is at East Herringthorpe Cemetery on Wednesday November 11 noon.
