Conisbrough Castle open day

GUIDED tours and archeology activities brought visitors flocking as Conisbrough Castle threw open its gates for a free open day.

English Heritage teamed up with local history groups including It’sOur Heritage and Inferna Peditum Living History Group, to show visitors – some of whom took the chance to dress in period costume – a glimpse into the past.

Archivists at Conisbrough Church Hall showed off the Manorial Rolls of Conisbrough, the oldest continuous record of daily life in England, which span the period 1265 to 1935.
