Rotherham United land first summer recruit

MICHAEL Ihiekwe has become Rotherham United's first summer signing after joining the club on a free transfer from Tranmere Rovers.

The 24-year-old central defender has penned a two-year-deal with the Millers after his contract expired at the National League play-off finalists.

Ihiekwe - who was schooled at Wolves before becoming a Cheltenham player - wracked up 42 appearances at the Prenton Park outfit last season, helping them to a second place finish.

However, they lost 3-1 in the play-off final to Forest Green.
