Two year deal for motor group follows Rotherham move

MOTOR Auction Group (MAG) has secured a renewed two-year deal with The Car People after doubling its capacity with a move to a new site in Rotherham.

MAG has signed a deal that will see in excess of 10,000 part exchange vehicles from The Car People’s Wakefield, Sheffield and Manchester-based car supermarkets going under the hammer at the Greasbrough Road site during the period of the contract.

James Tomlinson, managing director of MAG and chair of the National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) said: “We are delighted to renew our relationship with The Car People. We have a shared dedication to excellence, and understand how to quickly and efficiently maximise part exchange values.

“This two-year deal will enable us to align our business processes ever more closely, ultimately bringing greater benefits to both our organisations.”

MAG, formerly known as Bawtry Motor Auction, relocated to new premises on Greasbrough Road, Rotherham, following a £500,000 investment in refurbishment of the site.

The new facility is more than twice the size of the old Bawtry site, boasting a 15,000 sq ft auction room, sale display for over 400 vehicles and parking for 150 customer cars.

In addition to the new arrangement, MAG has secured valuable new deals with AvailableCar, Close Brothers Motor Finance, HPL Motors and a local dealer within weeks of the relocation.

MAG is aiming to be the first choice for vehicle remarketing in the north, with vehicle sales expected to double within the next 18 months and plans for a second site within three years.

MAG will hold three auctions each week with two more expected to be added as expansion continues.
