Lloyd Hayes passes points milestone as Rotherham Titans extend winning start
LLOYD Hayes went over the 500-point mark for Rotherham Titans in Saturday’s win at Tynedale.
The centre kicked 18 points in the 33-19 victory at Station Road to take him past the milestone.
Hayes’ tally has come in two spells at Clifton Lane dating back to when he made his debut back in 2014 in the Championship.
Titans’ tries at Tynedale came from skipper Zak Poole, winger Dan Rundle and hooker Luke Cole as they extended their winning start to the season to five matches.
The victory keeps them second in National Two North, Leeds Tykes holding top spot courtesy of two extra bonus points.
Rotherham take on Fylde on Saturday (2pm) when they will wear centenary replica shirts of the light blue and brown band shirt design worn at the club’s very first game on October 13, 1923.
Numbers 1-15 are being auctioned on eBay. Bids will close at 6pm on Wednesday with the successful bidders able to collect their game-worn shirts after Saturday’s game.
Numbers 16-20 will be available via a raffle on Saturday at £5 per strip.
A book When Men Became Titans, celebrating 100 years of Rotherham Rugby Club, is available from the club shop for £14.99 (softback) £45 (hardback).
