Work and play mix well for Rotherham Titans' rugby-playing doctor Ellis Thomas

The back row, who works in Doncaster, combines his job with his duties as a semi-pro in the 15-man code.
Thomas has helped drive Rotherham up National One this season but having missed out on top spot and promotion to Richmond, there’s the chance to grab the next best thing in London on Saturday (3pm) when Titans and Rosslyn Park play for second place.

"We are big candidates because of the way we have played this season so it’s about finishing strong.”
Thomas has the best of both or worlds, pursuing a career he loves alongside a game he loves.
"I have always tried to balance my rugby and work commitments during my time at university and at work and it is tough at times,” he said. "It’s also good to switch off from work and rugby is good for that.

Thomas got the no. 8 shirt ahead of skipper Zak Poole for the last home game and hopes to stay for another stab at National One next season.
“There’s a great group here and so are the fans. You can’t beat them,” he added.
Rotherham will be looking to complete a league double having beaten Rosslyn Park 31-21 on the first day of the season.
