SUPERBIKE star James Toseland this week laid claim to Valentino Rossi’s title.

 

But even though it won’t be on track, the 29-year-old from Kiveton can now officially be called doctor—world champion Rossi’s nickname—after receiving a honorary title from Sheffield Hallam University.

And James, who was presented with the doctorate at a special ceremony, said he was bowled over by the occasion.

“To be recognised by the city and Sheffield Hallam is possibly the most humbling thing I've ever received,” he said.

"It's a great honour and the icing on the cake for me after winning two championships and hopefully another next year."
