Learning curve for Fry

YOUNG Millers defender Dael Fry steps back into Championship combat this weekend a little wiser for a hard afternoon in Lancashire.

ON-LOAN Millers defender Dael Fry steps back into Championship combat this weekend a little wiser for a hard afternoon in Lancashire.

After two steady-headed performances in his first games against Bristol City and Nottingham Forest, the 19-year-old was given a tough time by a surprisingly perky Blackburn attack at Ewood Park last Saturday.

While manager Alan Stubbs acknowledged the way Fry stuck to his guns, the Middlesbrough loan man still wants to produce the results to show the manager at his parent club, Aitor Karanka, that he can cut it.

"It was frustrating, taking the lead and conceding four but Blackburn have some good strikers and we found it a bit difficult,” Fry told the Advertiser.

“They played with two up top – Sam Gallagher, who is a strong, physical lad, and Marvin Emnes, who is quick, so it was a bit different to this time. It was still good to play against those players and it's another game and another experience for me. I'll learn from it.”
