Rotherham United and Wigan Athletic in talks over Curtis Tilt deal

The League One Millers, who are at home to Lincoln City tomorrow, recalled the centre-half from his loan spell at the DW Stadium late last week after being unhappy with the size of the offer the Latics had put on the table.

However, the two clubs have been speaking again today in a bid to agree a six-figure move that would see the 30-year-old end his unhappy time at AESSEAL New York Stadium.

"Curtis hasn't been in," said Rotherham assistant manager Richie Barker. "There was some hope, I think, that a deal was being spoken about throughout the day and that Curtis would need to be close to a phone.

"He won't be in the squad tomorrow. It was better today that he concentrated on any news that may have broken while we were training."

Tilt has played only once for the Millers since a £100,000 switch from Blackpool in January 2020 and has been loaned out to Wigan three times.

Meanwhile, attacker Kieran Sadlier is back in contention for Rotherham after sitting out the trip to Fleetwood Town on Saturday through injury.

"He's trained today," Barker said. "He had a sore leg and then took a knock on it in training on Friday. He's had treatment over the weekend and feels okay now."

The third-placed Millers, who will go back to the top of the table if they beat Lincoln at AESSEAL New York Stadium, have no serious injury concerns.

"There were a few knocks and niggles after Fleetwood," Barker said. "They were just 24-hour things. With a bit of luck, we should be selecting from a full squad."
