With next season's opening day only just over a fortnight away, manager Matt Taylor is expecting a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the next few days.

The boss said: “We've done as much as we can. I'm sure it will come to a head at some stage this week. I don't think free agents can go more than four weeks without any pre-season.”

Sharp, who says he has had interest from a number of clubs since parting company with Sheffield United, wants to remain in the Championship and second-tier football is something Rotherham can give him.

Taylor has no issues with the hitman taking so long to weigh up his options.

"As a manager, you want everyone there for the first day of pre-season, but that  doesn't happen.”
