Becchio set for debut?

NEW signing Luciano Becchio is in line to make his Rotherham United bow at Bournemouth tomorrow.

Brought in on loan from Norwich City to give the team more punch up front, the Argentinean has completed his first full week of training and manager Steve Evans has been impressed with what he's seen so far.

Becchio (30) needs game time in order to get fully match fit and will enter the fray in time for two away matches, with tomorrow's trip to the south coast followed by a visit to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.

He's joined a squad refreshed and bolstered by the return from injury of skipper Craig Morgan, influential midfield man Paul Green and defender Frazer Richardson, plus another new arrival, £350,000 striker Jonson Clarke-Harris from Oldham Athletic.

Evans said: “We just need to settle down with our squad now and let competition begin because we've got competition in good areas.

“We're going to Bournemouth and they'll have a capacity crowd, if not a near capacity crowd, behind them. They're a top side and were unlucky last year not to be involved in the end-of-the-season fight for promotion.

“We're a little bit frustrated that we don't have more points based on our performances and as long as they stay at that level then we will find a way to score goals.”

Meanwhile, left back Mat Sadler has gone on a 30-day loan to his previous club Crawley.
