Fostering transforms lives – and as Fostering Fortnight begins, Rotherham Council’s fostering team has written an open letter to readers.

Join Rotherham Council and be part of our fostering family and help change the lives of local children The Rotherham fostering family is an amazing community doing amazing things. We’d love you to be part of it.

Our foster carers provide the loving, safe home environment that many children from our community need and deserve. It is an extraordinary, rewarding role which allows you to change the lives of children for the better. And when you need support, it’s always there.

The Council provides a wealth of help, training, and payment as well as access to the Rotherham fostering community for advice and mutual support from people facing the same challenges and decisions that fostering brings.

“It can take a while to make a connection with a young person, but the hard work and perseverance are worth it.”

“Even the tiniest break through, no matter how small, it is like winning the lottery! As a foster carer, you can feed off this fantastic feeling for a long time.”

“Watching the children grow, they take on your values and some of your behaviours.”

All walks of life

Fostering can be full-time or part-time. It doesn’t matter about your employment status, your sexuality, if you’re single or if you rent your home – we’re looking for potential foster carers from all walks of life and backgrounds to join our diverse Fostering Rotherham family.

Foster carers make a positive difference to the life of every child in they care for. And so could you.

If you have the love in your heart and the space in your home to foster a child or young person aged 0 to 18 years – we would love to hear from you.
