Woman escapes unhurt after crashing on ice

POLICE are warning drivers to be careful after a Rotherham woman crashed her car on an icy road.

The 20-year-old was left shaken but unhurt on Tuesday morning after her black Vauxhall Astra left Harley Road and crashed into a tree.

The badly damaged car had come to rest in a roadside hedge.

The Harley woman was travelling to work when she lost control on a right-hand bend.

A police spokesman urged motorists to take extra care when temperatures fall and drive appropriately for weather conditions.

Weathermen say it will remain very cold over the next few days with temperatures around freezing.
