Woman dies after Sprotbrough collision

A green tractor towing a trailer was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on Newton Lane at 11.50am on Thursday, police said.

A man has been arrested over the incident on suspicion of driving offences.

It is understood the tractor and trailer were reversing onto Newton Lane at the time, said a spokeswoman.

"The woman sadly suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene," she added.

"Her family has been notified and they are receiving support from specially-trained officers.. 

"A 30-year-old man driving the tractor was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

"He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue."

Witnesses, or motorists that may have dash-cam footage, are asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 377 of November 5.
