PRIMARY healthcare is in tip-top shape as Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group won an outstanding rating from NHS England.
Every CCG across the country is rated using an Ofsted-style ranking system of four categories and the results were published today (Thursday).
Rotherham received the top grade, with robust financial management, strong leadership and efforts to beat child sexual exploitation cited.
The CCG was also rated green for patient and community engagement, which judges how well links are forged to meet the needs of the public.
Chief officer Chris Edwards said: “We are delighted to be one of the top rated CCGs in the country who are outstanding.
“It’s a truly excellent outcome, which reinforces the significant progress we have made as an organisation and wider health and social care community. This national endorsement demonstrates the confidence that people can have in local health services.
“The dedication that our staff and GP members demonstrate is our major strength and we continue to harness their talents to enable us to make the right health and care decisions for the people of Rotherham.”
Dr Richard Cullen, a GP and the CCG chairman, added: “We are a forward thinking organisation that has delivered on key health priorities throughout the year.
“However we recognise that there are areas where we can make further improvements. We will continue our outstanding work with partners across the Rotherham Integrated Care Partnership to provide to high quality, seamless services.”
