Renewed appeal to trace land rover driver after Rotherham fatal collision

OFFICERS investigating a fatal collision in Rotherham earlier this month have issued a fresh appeal for the driver of a Land Rover, who may be a possible witness to the collision.

It was reported at around 12.40am on Sunday, May 10, that a grey Volkswagen Golf was travelling along Bawtry Road when it collided with a garden wall and flipped onto its roof.

The driver of the Golf, 21-year-old Yousif Thabet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family released a tribute to him last week, describing him as someone “wise beyond his years” who would leave “an unfillable void”.

The passenger of the Golf, a 20-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in stable condition.

Police are now keen to trace a Land Rover Freelander, which officers believe was travelling along Bawtry Road towards Rotherham at the time of the collision and may have witnessed what happened.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone yet to get in touch who may hold dashcam footage of the collision.
