THE family of a man killed when his car hit a garden wall described him as someone “wise beyond his years” who would leave “an unfillable void”.
Yousif Thabet (21) was pronounced dead at the scene after the early-hours, single-vehicle crash involving his VW Golf on Sunday (10).
His passenger — a 20-year-old man — remains in hospital and police are trying to trace a white car seen near the Golf as it travelled on Bawtry Road, Brinsworth.
Yousif’s family said in a statement: “Yousif was the most loving and caring individual you could have come across.
“An infectious smile that would light up the darkest room, and a role model to those who were blessed to know him.
“Such a selfless and caring son, brother, nephew, uncle, neighbour and friend, we are all indebted to him for the love and kindness he showered everyone with.
“A true testament to his character, is the reaction of the community he was at the heart of, who are also shaken by this devastating news.”
The statement added: “Wise beyond his years, there’s an unfillable void left behind and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
“However he leaves us all with countless memories and beautiful reminders. He was one of a kind, and will always be remembered. He will forever live in our hearts, until we meet again.”
The family thanked everyone who had expressed their condolences and sent charity donations to build a water well in Yousif’s name.
Police believe the occupants of the white car could hold vital information about what happened.
And a force spokesperson said: “We are also keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with dashcam or CCTV which captured either vehicle in the minutes leading up to the crash.”
Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 32 of May 10. Dashcam footage can be emailed by clicking here.
