THOMAS Rotherham College has appointed its first ever female head.

The college, which has teaching Rotherham students for 500 years as Rotherham Grammar School and TRC, announced this week that Shirley Brookes-Mills will take over as principal in June.

The experienced teacher and assistant principal was most recently assistant group director within Newcastle and Stafford Colleges group.

Ms Brookes-Mills will officially assume the principal’s post on June 4, taking over from interim head Dr Stephan Jungnitz.
