The Duke of York was at the £10.5 million University Centre Rotherham on Monday, where he met senior staff and students.

Prince Andrew was given a tour of the new building — on the site of the now-demolished Doncaster Gate Hospital — by Jason Austin, chief executive and principal of RNN Group, which also runs Rotherham College.

After seeing the specialist teaching facilities, seminar and lecture rooms, library, café and study spaces, the duke unveiled a plaque at the entrance to the Doncaster Gate campus.
