More support for care leavers on the way
Rotherham has worked to improve lives of care leavers
Senior councillors have agreed changes which will improve support levels given to those leaving the care system in Rotherham.

The authority has been working to help smooth the transition into adulthood for those who have been in local authority care and members of the ruling cabinet have approved changes to the Care Leavers’ Charter.
Changes include making young people with care experience eligible for Roth Cards, which bring discounts automatically - a change suggested by council leader Chris Read.
Part of the council’s work to help care leavers on their way to a brighter future is to offer automatic interviews for suitable jobs within the authority.
The new developments are expected to be launched officially as part of Care Leavers’ Month, in November.
Those with experience of care have worked with the council to put the focus on issues they find important, including housing, as they move towards independent living.
Cllr Victoria Cusworth said the charter aimed at ensuring “being care experienced is never a barrier to achieving success”.
