£70k fundraising challenge in memory of tragic Rotherham teen Owen ends in style - but will return next year
£70,000 has been raised through the month - and people can still donate
A month-long fundraising bid in memory of Owen Jenkinson ended in style on Saturday in Rotherham’s Clifton Park.
Around 400 people took part in the fun run which drew a curtain on Owen’s October Challenge - for this year.

Millers fan Owen passed away in November last year aged 17 after a long battle with cancer.
But his family is spearheading a bid to raise cash for PACT (Parents Association of Children with Tumours and Leukaemia).

An impressive £70,000 has been raised this year which will support the charity’s vital work.
There have been a number of fundraising activities, ranging from Owen’s sister, Ciara, taking part in an 18km trek from the Hillsborough stadium in Sheffield to Rotherham United’s New York Stadium to Rotherham United Official Supporters Club holding a bucket collection on all away coaches during October and taking a flag honouring Owen to away matches.

Ciara told the Advertiser: “It’s been amazing.
“I think we are feeling slightly relieved it’s over with.
“We have now raised £70,000.
“The October Challenge has really taken off and about 400 people attended the park run on Saturday.
“It was a real celebration of what we have achieved.
“It’s just been great and the whole month was a real success.
“We will be doing the Challenge every year moving forward.”
The family’s Owen’s October Challenge fundraising page will remain open until November 23.
