Five accused of railway cable theft

FOUR men and a woman have appeared in court harged with attempted cable theft after they were arrested at a Rotherham railway depot.

British Transport Police arrested the five at Tinsley Freight Depot, near Sheffield Airport, at around 8.30pm on July 14 last year, after the site was placed under surveillance due to repeated attempts to steal cable.

The suspects, all from Sheffield, were charged at Sheffield Magistrates Court yesterday and released on bail to April 18.

The are: Stuart Allen (27), Hinde Street, Grimethorpe; Christopher Shental (30), Renathorpe Road, Shiregreen; Kurt Lee Flowers (18), Moorfield Flats, Shalesmoor; Ashley Robert Swift (21), Derby Road, Heeley; and Tina Bradburn (28), Jessamine Road, Wincobank.
