In the confrontation which followed, an elderly man was hurt and his wife - aged 80s - was also injured, but their pet dog was kicked and died.

South Yorkshire Police arrested a 16 year old afterwards and now the victim said she had been told he appeared at Youth Court, admitting robbery and assault, resulting in two years custody.

She praised South Yorkshire Police, who she said had been “wonderful” in the support offered: “They have been with me 24/7 and let me know everything.

“Even the prosecutor was goode enough to phone me and tell me he had been sentenced.”

She was unable to attend the case because she had been denied access to the Youth Court at a previous hearing, she said.
