Tour de Yorkshire: Live music and entertainment planned along the route
VILLAGES along the Tour de Yorkshire route are tapping into the festive spirit on Friday with early openings, live music events and refreshments.
Here’s a quick guide to what’s on where:
Wentworth: Tea, coffee and cakes will be available at the Mechanics Institute on Main Street, with proceeds going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.

Hide AdSwinton: The High House pub will be open from 8am serving hot drinks, with a BBQ in action until the afternoon.
Kilnhurst: St Thomas’ Church is running an all-day café from 9am to 5pm, as well as themed craft activities and an exercise bike at the church where residents can challenge themselves to clock up as many miles as the Tour riders.
Conisbrough:Live music and entertainment on the Mill Piece from 1pm, with refreshments including fresh baked pizza, burgers and crepes and a gin and prosecco van, traditional games provided by Entour and kids’ rides from Tuby, balloon modelling, face painting and bike try-outs.
Denaby Main: Live music in Flower Park, where a DJ will keep the atmosphere buzzing when he takes over the park’s bandstand, as well as food and other stalls.

Hide AdStaff from the Family Hub aim to match Tour de Yorkshire riders in distance from their static bikes on the roadside to raise money for their local children’s centre.
Mexborough: A musical event is being held at the Mexborough Athletic Club base on New Oxford Road, with food, drink and live music from 9am to 4pm. The women’s race is due to shoot past at about 10am and the men’s at about 3.40pm.
