Wanted man snared by police dog — in supermarket toilets
Handler PC Matt Aris and Bear were a couple of hours into their nightshift on Saturday when they received a call from South Yorkshire Police’s control room.

Hide AdThey were asked to help with detaining a 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a breach of bail conditions at York Road, Eastwood.
Police said an extensive search had been carried out by both uniformed and plain clothes officers to no avail.
A suspect matching the description was seen in the underpass at St Ann’s roundabout at about 11.15pm.

Hide AdHe ran off when approached by police but Bear’s extra pair of legs meant he was able to keep track and catch up.
The animal followed as the suspect ran inside Tesco on Drummond Street, hid in the toilets and locked the door.
Bear barked outside the door to alert PC Aris to the location of the suspect, who eventually came out and was arrested.

Hide AdPC Aris said: “Bear is still in his first year of the job, but I could not be prouder of his determination and success.
“He is fast on his legs, fit and will catch you up. He continued to chase this suspect into Tesco’s and stayed outside the door until we detained the suspect.”
