VIDEO: Armistice Day marked by service in Rotherham town centre
Frank Wells of the legion gave a reading of Laurence Binyon’s poem For the Fallen, with its familiar lines: “At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them.”
Around 150 people paused at All Saints’ Square at 11am for two minutes’ silence in memory of the fallen, before Rev Batchford invited them to honour those who have fought and those who continue to serve today with a round of applause.
Hundreds more attended services across the borough yesterday for Remembrance Day. See this Friday's Advertiser for a full round-up of the commemorations.
