Supt Jamie Henderson urged drivers not to leave any items in their vehicles

when unattended — such as phones, money, laptops, bags, and tools — which he said could be “extremely attractive” to an offender.

“We know how distressing having your vehicle or any property stolen can be for people and taking small steps to reduce people taking an interest in your vehicle can deter thieves from taking advantage,” he said.

“I would encourage you to be vigilant when using your vehicle and watch out for anyone acting suspiciously or taking an interest in it.

“If you notice anything, please don’t hesitate to contact us by calling 101, or if you need immediate assistance, dial 999.”
