Three men deny Aston library burglary

THREE men have appeared at court charged with burglary after a safe was stolen from a library.

Stephen Flinders (40), Richard Burrell (34), and Jack Westrop (18) all denied burglary when they appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (16).

A safe was stolen from Aston Community Library on Sunday (13) evening, a police spokeswoman said.

Flinders, of Mason Avenue, Swallownest; Burrell, of Cantilupe Crescent, Aston and Westrop, of Wharton Avenue, Swallownest, were released on conditional bail to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on November 13.

The police spokeswoman said a 43-year-old man who was also arrested had been released on police bail.

Rotherham Inspector Caroline Bakewell said: “Burglary has an extremely harmful impact on our communities and we will do everything in our power to investigate every incident reported to us. 

“I encourage anyone who is concerned about thefts in their area to report information to us via 101.”
