Teenagers in the running for road safety “Oscars”


St Bernard’s Catholic High School in Herringthorpe, The Willows School in Kimberworth and Wingfield Academy will all send representatives to the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership about the Road Safety Oscars event on Wednesday.
The prizes will be handed out at Sheffield City Hall and recognise children who developed projects to pass on key road safety messages to their classmates.

Hide AdThis year's entries included drama pieces, animations and dance routine.
The Chuckle Brothers will compere the event and there will also be guest appearances from other surprise performers.
Safer Roads education manager Joanne Wehrle said: “This event is an excellent opportunity to recognise young people for their work in promoting road safety messages to their peers.
“Their hard work in developing these exciting and innovative ideas for delivering the road safety messages helps to ensure many more young people are reached than we would otherwise have been able to.
