Suspected drink driver arrested after collision leaves woman with serious injuries

The 30-year-old man was detained following the incident at 7.15pm on Friday at the junction between Bawtry Road and Old Hellaby Lane.

“It is reported that a black X-type Jaguar travelling along Bawtry Road, has collided with a red Citroen Xsara as it was pulling out of Old Hellaby Lane,” said a spokesperson.

“A passenger travelling in the Citroen Xsara, a woman in her 70s remains in hospital with serious injuries.  

“A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit and driving while disqualified. He has since been released under investigation.”

Police have appealed for dashcam footage and witnesses to the collision.
