Seven fire crews called to Rotherham town centre blaze

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into the cause of a fire in Rotherham town centre last night.

Seven fire crews were called to Bridgegate at 9.30pm, and Red Lion Yard remained taped off by police this morning.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue said: “The roof area was well alight. Luckily there were no casualties.

“The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Firefighters left the scene at 1.10am.”

Rotherham firefighters also attended a vehicle blaze at Claypit Lane in Rawmarsh at 2.15am today.

They were there for about 20 minutes and incident was recorded as deliberate.
