School shut down after receiving concerns regarding a "potential threat" in the area

A SCHOOL in Rotherham was put into lockdown completely after concerns of “a potential threat in the local area”.

Oakwood High School, on Moorgate Road, made the ruling at 3pm this afternoon after receiving a threatening phone call.

Police officers were spotted searching the area, including nearby Broom Valley Road.

The school informed parents it would keep pupils safe by keeping them on-site until they were given the all-clear by the police but reassured them that their children were safe.

Confused parents were waiting outside the school this afternoon to collect their children.

However, police confirmed that they believed the threatening phone call to be a hoax after they conducted a search of the area and found no-one injured.
