Rotherham firms help children's hospital to record Christmas total
A DISPLAY of sparkling snowflakes helped light up Sheffield Children’s Hospital this Christmas, raising a record-breaking amount towards its emergency department appeal.
More than 250 twinkling flakes were sponsored for between £500 and £6,000 to raise over £250,000.

Among the sponsors were Rotherham-based firms Oxley and Coward, WebHelp UK, PDR Electrical Engineers and Beta Engineering.
Tchad Western, corporate partnership manager at The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “Every penny raised will help us in our appeal for an expanded emergency department, which as a designated major trauma centre, helps up to 200 children a day from across the region with every possible problem imaginable.”
In 2017, the hospital saw 10,348 children from Rotherham.
Under the plans, the waiting room would expand to four times its current size, with an additional triage assessment area and more treatment, consultancy and examination rooms.
