Robber pushes victim in canal before stealing wallet with magnet

POLICE seeking a robber who pushed his victim in a canal and stole his wallet with a fishing magnet have released an e-fit image.

POLICE hunting for a robber who pushed his victim in a canal and stole his wallet with a fishing magnet have released an e-fit image.

Detectives want to speak with the man pictured, after a 31-year-old man was pushed in water near Mexborough on Friday, July 13.

The victim was attacked at around 6.30pm, as he walked between the River Don and Mexborough New Cut, near Doncaster Road.

A police spokeswoman said he was pushed in the canal before his attacker fished out the wallet and left, fleeing towards Denaby.

"The victim was not injured and managed to get out of the canal on his own", she added.

Officers have since worked with him to produce the e-fit image.
