Police update on fatal accident in Rotherham town centre

POLICE have issued more details about the town centre accident in which a man died.

They are investigating the fatal accident on Centenary Way late on Friday night, after which the 26-year-old passenger in a grey Honda Civic was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed the car collided with a roadside barrier at just before midnight.

Officers have now confirmed the accident happened between the junctions for Greasbrough Road and Drummond Street, near Tesco.

The 18-year-old male driver was also taken to hospital but later discharged.

The man who died has not yet been named but a spokesperson added his family had been informed and were being supported by specially trained officers.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage to help with their enquiries.
