As of today, the Twitter account used to send the tweets — understood to be linked to a fan from Rotherham — appeared to have been deleted.
A statement from Sheffield Wednesday said they were “appalled by a repulsive racist message directed at Darren Moore posted on a social media platform following our game against Peterborough United on Friday evening”.
South Yorkshire Police said they were aware of the matter, adding: “It is being investigated.”
