Police appeal after man in 60s "attacked outside Asda"

A MAN needed hospital treatment after being attacked outside a supermarket, police said.

The incident happened outside Asda in Dalton at 11.50am last Saturday and left a man in his 60s with injuries a detective said were “thankfully not extremely serious.”.

Police said they were investigating and appealing for information.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 grievous bodily harm after the alleged attack and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Det Con Gemma Caffney said: “This was an attack on a man in his 60s who was taken to hospital for his injuries, which are thankfully not extremely serious.

“We’re now asking that anyone with information or any footage comes forward as it may assist with our ongoing investigation.”
