OAP taken to hospital after accidental oven fire

AN ELDERLY resident was taken to hospital after premises in Slade Hooton became smoke-logged following a microwave oven fire.

Three fire crews from Rotherham and Edlington stations were called out to Abbey Lane at 10.05am on Saturday. 

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “This was an accidental fire involving food in a microwave. 

“The premise was smoke-logged and the elderly occupant was taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up. 

“The crews left the scene at 11am.”
