Man who carried Rambo knife in public spared jail

A MAN who was found with a knife on a busy road has been spared a spell in jail.

Richard Howitt (42), of Stacey Drive, Thrybergh, admitted at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday (7) to carrying a knife in public - changing his plea as he was due to stand trial for the offence.

He was caught carrying a black "Rambo"-style knife on Herringthorpe Valley Road on May 6.

Howitt was given a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge.
