Man cleared of rape after case dropped by Crown Prosecution Service

A CHARGE of rape against a man has been dropped after the prosecution offered no evidence.

Marek Bogdan (45), of Bethel Road, Rotherham, was charged with raping a woman in August, 2017, in Rotherham.

His case was heard at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, February 22, where the prosecution offered no evidence.

A Crown Prosecution Service spokeswoman said after the hearing that this was because the complainant had withdrawn her support for the prosecution.

“The CPS offered no evidence and a formal not guilty verdict was recorded,” she added.
