Man arrested for carrying loaded air rifle

Officers from the Rotherham South Neighbourhood Policing Team seized the weapon yesterday (Thursday) from a man who was spotted by several members of the public carrying it down Doe Quarry Lane.

"The air rifle was both loaded and not in a case which understandably caused concern to the public," the team said on Facebook.

"To legally carry an air gun in a public place you must have a genuine reason for carrying it in public, the air gun must be fastened in a secure case, the air gun must be uncocked and unloaded, and you must be over the age of 18."
