John Healey claims second highest MP expenses in South Yorkshire according to government data

EXPENSES figures have revealed John Healey claimed for the second highest running costs of any MP in South Yorkshire this summer.

Details from The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, which regulates the business costs, pay and pensions of the 650 elected MPs and their staff, showed that Mr Healey claimed £24,295.17 between March and July, without staffing costs.

Rotherham MP Sarah Champion claimed £7.910.74 less, while Rother Valley MP Alexander Stafford demanded £3,702.17 less.

Amongst Mr Healey’s claims were a charge of £67.99 for a docking station for his laptop and a £3.15 charge for car mileage in March.

Mr Stafford claimed back £1.35 and £1.40 in mileage in February, while Ms Champion requested £4.20 back for iPad batteries.

Former South Yorkshire mayor and current Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis had the highest total for South Yorkshire, with expenses of £27,558.90.

Doncaster Central MP Rosie Winterton expenses of £9,597.34 was the least claimed by an MP in South Yorkshire.

Last year, Mr Healey claimed the highest expense of any Rotherham-based MP with a total of £260,957.60 when staff costs were taken into account.
