THE founders of a new women’s mental health group have opened their arms to new members, urging anyone with a story or in need of a company to come along.

Ironically, Sue Baxter, Alison Higgs and Kelly Dudley met through Andy’s Man Club, a group run for men with mental health problems.

Sue (47), of Kimberworth, said: “Two of us have husbands that attend and one of them knew an Andy’s Man Club facilitator through the work she does as she lost her partner through suicide.

“The men put our names forward when it was mentioned that a women’s group was needed.

“We were trying to find a place and found one in Kimberworth.

“We’ve done two trial sessions already and they both went well.

“The participants told us it was a fantastic idea and most of the people who attended said they would come back every week because it had helped them so much.

“We just want to help as many ladies who are struggling with their mental health as possible.

“You don’t have to come and tell your story, you can just come and sit and listen and have a cup of tea.

“You can join whenever you’re ready.

“Every lady aged 18 and over is more than welcome to join — you don’t even have to live in Rotherham.”

Sue said the group was in talks of setting up a bank account and securing funding to help cover costs.

Sue said: “It’s a free service. We’re not professionally trained, although we’re looking into doing some training.

“If anyone out there wants to get things off their chest, they can come in and join us.”

The group meets every Wednesday evening between 7pm and 9pm at the Phoenix Pavilion, Brinsworth, and you can attend with giving your name.
