Half-naked man snatched in suspected kidnapping in Rotherham

The man was coerced into a car by a gang in the early hours of Thursday

POLICE said they were concerned about the welfare of a man after he was forced into the back of a car in a suspected kidnapping.

A man was coerced into a silver Citroen Berlingo at around 1am last Thursday (March 16) by four men on Wortley Road, an anonymous tipster told officers.

The man in question was said to be wearing just joggers and socks at the time he was kidnapped.

Police said the suspects and the van had then returned at 3am, with two of the gang getting into a black BMW.

All of the offenders are described as dark-skinned, with one of the four having a beard. 

Det Chief Insp Andy Knowles said: “An investigation is underway, and need your help in identifying the man involved and ensuring he is safe and well.

“I would ask anyone who has knowledge of this incident to contact us with information so we can carry out welfare checks as soon as possible.

“Meanwhile we are gathering witness reports from those in the area and treating it as an absolute priority to trace the van.”
