Fire in roof and bathroom of Balby house

THREE fire crews spent several hours putting out a house fire in Balby.

Crews from Elm Lane, Parkway and Maltby stations were called out Balby Road at 2.30pm on yesterday.

The fire was contained to the roof and bathroom, said a spokeswoman from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

"Nobody was injured in the incident and the fire didn't spread to any other properties," she added

Officers from South Yorkshire Police were also called to the area and as a result of the fire, Balby Road was closed down overnight last night. 

Fire crews left the scene at 7.45pm.

The spokeswoman added that the cause of the fire was not yet known and an investigation to determine the cause was underway.
