Fire crews tackle "intense" HGV blaze on M18
FIREFIGHTERS tackled an “intense” lorry fire last night which closed two lanes on the motorway for four hours.
Four fire crews from Doncaster, Edlington and Adwick stations attended the lorry fire at 11pm between junctions 2 and 1 of the southbound M18.
National Highways Yorkshire said two lanes had been closed on the northbound side due to “intensity of the blaze”,
Both lanes reopened northbound at 12.37am, NHY confirmed.
Fire crews were at the scene until 1.25am and the southbound carriageway was back in action by 3.30am.
